Small School, Big Hearts & Bright Futures
Our aim is that all our young learners are happy, nurtured and supported to be able to thrive and succeed within our school and beyond and therapy plays a big part on helping our individuals feel this way. Within Clovelly House School, we offer an in-house Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions for all our students on a weekly basis. This gives our student opportunities to understand themselves better and talk openly about their struggles and realising other peoples needs.
Additional therapy is available on request subject to private funding or EHCP funding. This includes external therapists for both Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT) and Occupational Therapy (OT).
Speech and Language Therapy (SaLT)
As a school, if a student has additional funding for SaLT, we use an external therapist on a weekly basis. They will focus on all the communicational needs our young learners want to develop. They are full qualified and work extremely hard to ensure that as the student progresses through school that their level of communication and language used develops alongside this effectively.
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Some of our learners at Clovelly House School require additional help with sensory and/or movement skills. The therapists we use will use assessments and involve the parents/carers and school to ensure that we all understand the needs of our young individual. After the assessments, a support programme will be introduced, these sessions are held weekly per individual and strategies the OT recommends will be put in place throughout their normal timetable as much as possible to further assist our students.
