Small School, Big Hearts & Bright Futures
At Clovelly house school, we aim to work with all our young learners to help develop their own behaviours. We recognise that all our students are different both in what triggers their behaviours and how they react to them. As a school, we focus more on the why these things happen rather than what has happened.
We work extensively with all our students to ensure that they can understand what they did, why this may be wrong or cause potential problems and what we could have chosen to do instead. We use all the negative behaviours in a reflective way to promote positive outcomes going forward.
We use positive reinforcement throughout our school. Using praise, rewards and celebration to give our young learners a positive experience for their great behaviours or achievements. Recognition within our school is either displayed on walls, certificated, contact made home or placed in our good practice book which is available to be seen by all. We believe that the more praise and recognition for the positive efforts our learners produce the less we receive of the negative, which in most cases the impact is seen at home too.
Contact for Parents/Carers
We recognise that our school is the main bridge between home and our learner’s education. We make it our upmost importance to ensure that regular contact is made to parent/carers for both the positive and negative behaviours within our school. This contact may be made via phone, messages, emails or via arranged teams’ calls. Some of our students have communication books where our teachers can communicate home directly with daily messages to keep parents/carers involved.
We are always trying to improve our communication with home, so our approaches are continuously reviewed and being refined to ensure that all families can be involved in their child’s development within school.
