Key Stage 2 Curriculum

At Clovelly House, we take kids from the age of 10, this means as a school we cover Year 5/6 as part of our Key Stage 2 curriculum. For Key Stage 2, we cover a range of subjects including: English, Maths, Science, Humanities and PSHE. We also cover vocational subjects such as swimming, food technology and art. As part of our timetable we also include “talk time” therapy with our ‘in-house’ therapist and allow access to a woodland area for woodland therapy.

During their time in Key Stage 2, we do not offer formal qualifications until Key Stage 3 as we use KS2 to build upon their knowledge ready for more in-depth learning. We focus a lot on spellings, handwriting and reading skills too during this phase of education.

In addition to their timetabled subjects, we work extensively on the students as individuals. We focus on helping our young learners understand their emotions using the Zones of Regulation, allowing them opportunities to reflect upon certain behaviours and reward successes that they achieve whilst at school.
