Small School, Big Hearts & Bright Futures
The Key Stage 4 (KS4) curriculum for students aged 14-16 in England focuses on a broad range of subjects, including mandatory, English, Maths, and Physical Education, along with Religious Education and Sex Education. While students have a statutory entitlement to study subjects within areas like the Arts, Humanities, they choose specific subjects to gain qualifications, typically GCSEs or Functional Skills.
The curriculum is designed to prepare students for post-16 education, building on skills from Key Stage 3 while providing opportunities for deeper study and accreditation.
We offer our core subjects, 4 lessons of Functional Skills Maths and English each week plus two lessons of science. Next to the compulsory subjects we build on the skills and knowledge with PHSE, Careers, Geography and Art. The afternoons are filled with enrichment topics. We offer Woodland Therapy, Sport, Swimming, PlayStation and Film club. These subjects allow students to develop knowledge in a range of subjects that take knowledge beyond students’ personal interests.
We run a points system, associated with a work/behaviour scheme. It gives the students a point for each lesson with a reward given the next day.
We aim that, no matter their starting point or additional needs, our students leave us as resilient, confident and equipped for adulthood and employability.
