Key Stage 3 Curriculum

The Key Stage 3 curriculum at Clovelly House School is based around the National Curriculum. To help build up the essential knowledge and skills required to progress into Key Stage 4. In years 7, 8 and 9, our students work in a range of academic subjects including: English, Maths and Science, Careers, Humanities and PSHE.

To complete their timetables, we combine these with more vocational subjects which include Art, food technology, swimming and gym. Our timetable also includes weekly “talk time” therapy with an ‘in-house’ therapist and access to woodlands therapy.

For some of our subjects we complete ASDAN Short Courses for subjects such as PSHE and Foodwise to help gain some qualifications whilst in Key Stage 3, these are also available at Key Stage 4 too.

In addition to their timetabled subjects, we work extensively on the students as individuals. We focus on helping our young learners understand their emotions using the Zones of Regulation, allowing them opportunities to reflect upon certain behaviours and reward successes that they achieve whilst at school.
